Who We Are

lunchWe are pleased to introduce you to SUKRUPA, a non-profit organization based in Bangalore, INDIA. Its mission is to help underprivileged children escape a background of poverty, slum life, illiteracy and ignorance, replacing these challenges with hope and opportunities available to mainstream children.

Sukrupa is registered under Section 80(G) and all donations are tax deductible under the rules of the Income Tax Department of India. We are also registered under the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) and are eligible to receive donations in foreign currency.

Where We Work

slumChildren at Sukrupa come from urban slum communities around Bangalore. Many of them come from families whose monthly income is less than Rs.2000 (less than $50). This leads to a lack of basic needs, healthcare and opportunities for the children. As a result, the children start working or aimlessly loiter on the streets. Deprivation, poverty and emotional trauma are a norm, and some children go through severe turmoil and abuse at home and in the community.

What We Do

SUKRUPA works with more than 200 children from the slums in and around R.T. Nagar, Bangalore and provides a safe, caring and clean environment for the children while their parents are at work.

We nurture the whole child and provide:

• Daily food and nutrition.
• Academic instruction for preschoolers and in an after school program.
• Health care
• Skills training
• Opportunities to participate in sports and other recreational activities
• Cultural opportunities and awareness
• Training by professionals in dance, music and visual arts

We offer the following formal programs:

  • SUKRUPA Home (a residential program)
  • SUKRUPA School (a regular school program)
  • SUKRUPA After School (a program for school dropouts)
  • SUKRUPA Life Skills (a leadership program)
