Why partner with SUKRUPA:

SUKRUPA serves children and young adults from Indian slum communities. Typical Sukrupa students are first-generation learners, often born to young parents. It is not uncommon that the mothers of the youngest Sukrupa students are themselves only 12 or 13 years old. Family size is generally large, family members are often undernourished, and many live in poor hygienic and sanitary conditions. They are not trained in gainful skills, nor do they have access to schools or adult role models through which a livelihood would be taught.

Male members of these families are typically unskilled construction workers, with females employed in similar roles as well as serving as domestic help. It is not uncommon for parents to take their young children to work, thus ensuring that these children–absent Sukrupa–will themselves never gain access to education, and as a result will never develop as fully participative, contributing adults.

It is precisely this cycle of poverty that Sukrupa breaks. Instead of a child not being able to write his or her own name, read a sign board or open a bank account, Sukrupa creates young adults ready to lead the next generation through business and community participation.

How can you Help:

To assist Sukrupa, there are three things you can do:

1. Make a Donation

Whether as an individual or a corporation, Sukrupa needs your economic assistance. Your contribution is used to manage Sukrupa’s Programs. Sukrupa’s accounts are annually auditied by a Registered Chartered Accountant. Sukrupa’s Programs are evaluated regularly.

2. Sponsor a Child

Sukrupa Sponsor a child program provides free education, nutrition and healthcare for 450 students. Every Rupee from this sponsorship program directly supports a child for the developmental activities and does not include any administration cost.

3.Volunteer as an Advocate or Ambassador

Perhaps there is a skill that you have, as an athletics coach, leader of a Sukrupa club, or simply helping to spread the good word, Sukrupa needs volunteers. Please check the Volunteering Opportunities at SUKRUPA website, and consider stepping up for one of these roles. Every single educated person has the ability to make a difference in at least one more person who does not have the opportunities for education. YOU can be that person.
